Sales/Marketing Intern
Supervisor: CEO/Marketing DirectorWhat is the overall purpose and objective of this position?We are looking for a Sales/Marketing Intern to work closely with our sales team. This position is responsible for contributing to the overall productivity and customer service levels of the sales team through prospecting, sales, presentations, product demonstration, training and problem resolution, as well as providing administrative support for the sales team.
What are the major responsibilities of the position, and what percentage of time should they take?Duties and Responsibilities:
Generate leads and prospect new business, as well as create new service opportunities with the existing customer base.
Generate leads through planning and persistence
Assist sales staff with requests for information i.e.; price plan analysis and customer information, while providing administrative and sales support, i.e.; proposals, marketing information, problem solving and follow-up with customers and prospects. Assist with trade shows, customer and prospect meetings, and attend when required.
Consistently demonstrate knowledge of products, services and industry. Process all appropriate documentation for new orders/renewals and ensures policies and procedures are met with regard to sales activations.
Use customer-oriented telephone etiquette to get information. Greets callers, establishes rapport, and projects professional tone.
Present information effectively and persuasively across communication settings.
Grasp technical concepts and communicates them quickly.
Attentive to the needs of customers. Respond quickly and competently to customer requests.
Consistently move the customer toward commitment by addressing customer concerns and demonstrating empathy.

Position will have internal and external customer contact, which demands professional communication abilities (both written and verbal).
Candidate should be poised, enthusiastic and have professional demeanor/appearance.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, interpersonal skills, presentation skills, planning and negotiation skills
This position also requires the ability to meet deadlines and to work in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
Preferably working towards a degree in Sales and Marketing, looking to graduate within a year.
Self-management skills are required.
Any required technical skills (typing, computer skills, etc.)?High PC literacy
Candidate must be knowledgeable with the standard word processing software and contact management software (Word and Outlook).
Are there any particular working conditions associated with this position that should be noted (i.e., environment, hours, travel, work space, etc.)?While required overtime hours are few and far between in general, overtime can and will be required at times to complete necessary tasks.
Physical Demands of PositionThe occasional (10% or less) need to assist others in heavy lifting (> 50 lbs) may arise, as we are a small company with no maintenance staff to assist in furniture and other object relocation.
